Discovering what love is one day at a time
Thinking about the awesome far reaching grace that God has bestowed upon us…How amazing His love is. … How desperate we are for it. I love that we are given complete forgiveness, while we were yet sinners. I love that His love propels us to respond to Him. I love that His love is for everyone, and no one is too far from His reach. I love that if we step out of His love it hurts. His love is not critical. It is encompassing. It surrounds us on every side. His love is patient and is kind; love does not envy; it does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely; does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things and hopes all things, and endures all things. His love never runs away. His love never gives up on us. Sometimes people give up on themselves…and sometimes they give up on others…His love is the standard. We fall short. But God.
It is a perfect standard. It is far reaching. It is complete. His standard doesn’t change because of circumstances, choices, or anything we could muster up as an excuse… >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I was having a conversation with my son the other day, and was listening to him hash out his emotions…deal with his own desire to please, be responsible, and just adjust to his new season of life, and it just reminded me of how awesome God’s love is for us. As a parent, we want our kids to thrive. To understand their own passions, and not be led to believe that life is to too hard, but see that the possibilities are endless, and the only One that they really need to be concerned about is really living their life to please God, and when that is put in the right spot in their heart mind soul and will, the rest will fall into place. God’s love equips us, to become everything He has set before us. His love is the supply or storehouse of our needs. His love says you belong, you are mine, you are chosen, and you can do this. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> There is a coffee shop that I like to go to that has the most amazing marsala latte, and it has windows on one wall that look out to a brick wall about a foot away from its own exterior… Imagine if…for every time we made a mistake out the windows of our eyes we would see a brick added to a wall. Imagine even further…every time that someone looked at your life and for every mistake you made they added another brick to the wall. Most likely you would see only a wall of bricks…surrounding you on every side. Doesn’t leave much room for imagination, dreams or desire or purpose to move in any direction whatsoever does it? But God. He removed the wall. He removed the separation of that impenetrable wall of sin from us, by His death and resurrection. By grace through faith we have salvation. Eternal life. Right here, right now. The power to live, the grace to see, and the forgiveness that makes your whole being rejoice with gladness. We are new. Reborn. Clean slate, new eyes to see, ears to hear and a heart with a river of living water pouring out, overwhelmed with joy. Relationship with The King of the Universe. Left with no words to express the magnitude of it, but a lifetime to live out our gratitude. So in imagining that wall… what kind of response would you have?... Without understanding or knowing the Truth of God’s Word, we may just curl up in a ball, and wait out our days hoping that our days will end, and end quickly. We may possibly find a way to live comfortably within the confines of our known prison of bricks. Even as one who knows the Truth, we may allow the bricks to be there, and may continue to add to them, and to others, removing some, knocking down some and even rearranging the confines of some of the well known spaces. Another completely different response would be to remember that the wall of separation between us and God has been completely removed. Jesus said, “It is finished.” We are seated in the heavenly places in Christ, we have been given all things that pertain to godliness, we are not alone, and we are chosen we are His. I think we forget a lot… who He says He is, who He says we are in Him, and what He has done and what He promises He will do. We must encourage one another to remember; how great His love is for us, how wonderful He is, and the real Truth that hedges us in behind and before. We all have circumstances that can knock the wind right out of us, but those circumstances do not have the power to keep us from getting back up and moving forward. But exhort one another daily, while it is still called”Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. Hebrews 3:13
