Discovering what love is one day at a time
I love words and their meanings…especially in the light of God’s Word. When I look up the meaning of a word it gives me more substance to hang on to, I get a visual picture of the word. I like that; I like all the added details. Ever notice, if your neighbor wants to borrow something of yours, and you don’t have it, you can’t give it to them…simple right. How come we expect to be able to give more of ourselves in certain situations, when we haven’t got it? You can’t give what you haven’t received right?
If we neglect certain things in our walk with God, whether it be prayer, study of the Word, allowing the Lord to change our hearts, and working out our salvation with Him, being filled with His Spirit, we are not going to have what we need for others, nor for ourselves. Be alert, sober minded… walk circumspectly, guard what has been entrusted to you, take heed…all of these commands are laid out in Scripture. The past few days, careless seems to be the word that keeps popping up in conversations. Careless is the complete opposite of mindful, alert, sober minded, circumspect, heedful... Careless is not showing care or receiving care. It means negligence, slovenly, unvalued, disregarded, unconcerned or indifferent. Are you careless about God? Are you negligent in digging into and studying His Word? Slipshod in your thoughts…allowing the cares of this world to swallow you up?...Are you careless in terms of disregarding those things you know you should do, but would rather not deal with them, and the conflict that might happen? Are you indifferent, or unconcerned about the consequences of not valuing the things God values? Are you indifferent? Are you indifferent to receiving value, and care, His value and care for you, and His love and healing touch for wounds in your life? If we could care less…isn’t that saying we really haven’t received care in that area of our life, and we are not willing to give it out? Are we unwilling to receive His care? Is it that we don’t care or that we can’t? Or that we won’t…that we are unwilling? Bear with me; I am just talking this out…. We are to love Him with everything He has given us, heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love our neighbor as our self…so if we choose not to care…we are devaluing that person, no? And also devaluing God…showing indifference…not love….would that also apply to our self? And so if we are contradictory to His Word, we are walking in sin…so we have a responsibility in that as well. Praying that we all would walk circumspectly and take heed to His Word, casting our cares unto Him, but also valuing His Kingship, allowing it in all areas of our lives that we may guard well what has been entrusted to us.
