Discovering what love is one day at a time
On occasion, my kids ask me about things that I have done while growing up. Sometimes, I feel confident that the choices that I made were ok, and are going to encourage my kids to do well too. And yet there are many occasions where I know the choices I made lacked discretion, sound judgment and true focus, my heart’s desire is that they will be able to learn from my mistakes and walk with God’s Truth to lead them forward, devoted only to Him.. My most foolish time in my life was when in my heart I said there is no God, when I lived as there was no one to give an account to. When I refused to call out and call on the Name of the Lord. In pride and insolence I separated myself from the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The truth is we all are foolish when we chose to separate ourselves from the wisdom of God which is only found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The opposite of foolishness, is steadfast devotion to God. Folly is easy to come by, we simply live to gratify the needs of our flesh. We walk in a manner that pleases only ourselves; to illicit that emotional reaction of happiness to gain reward for ourselves, no matter the cost to our own spiritual health and that of others around us. The problem in living that way, is that the flesh is never fully pleased, we are always in need of more…and we are living hostile to God… and seriously, that never ends well. The message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is that one that satisfies our every need. He has carried out the terms of the sacrifice necessary to cover all of our sins. He satisfied our debt. He fulfilled the condition necessary to make it possible for us not to be separated from God, forever. Honestly, that is our greatest need, to be connected to the One and only source of Life. You open Your Hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing… With long life You satisfy us and show us Your Salvation…. Lord, You guide us continually and satisfy our souls in drought, we shall be like a well watered garden. And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail…We will listen carefully to You and eat what is good- and we will let our souls delight themselves in Your abundance…You are the bread from heaven, the Bread of Life.
