Discovering what love is one day at a time
It is so interesting to me, the promises in God’s Word, and how easily we can overlook His sufficiency and provision because of our self-sufficiency.
For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope… Do we approach God to have him fill in the blanks, according to our plans, or have we surrendered our lives fully, trusting that The Creator of the whole Universe really does know what He is doing? His Word tells us to: “Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly…”, and yet how often can we be like the toddler barricaded in our own space, feet on the door frame hands on the door knob, with our bodies suspended in the air holding the door to our hearts and lives shut, while He waits for us to open the door to Him. Is it not crazy that we will anticipate the arrival of a Fed/Ex package with eagerness, watching the road when we hear a big truck, and possibly stepping outside our door, reaching out to receive the awaited package? Why, when yet the Creator of the Universe is looking to fill us with the fullness of Himself; do we sometimes stand and face in defiance our Heavenly Father, unwilling to wait for His provision, unwilling to seek His loving guidance, unwilling to open the door to our hearts and receive with eagerness His provision? And yet His word says that if we knock the door will be opened to us, and if we seek we will find…self-sufficiency, doesn’t wait upon, nor does it chase after with hunger of one in need. Self-sufficiency is not one that is long-suffering… We thank You, Lord God, that in You all the fullness dwells and in You we are complete. Father God, open the eyes of our understanding to not only know, but believe fully the extent of You, Lord, being our refuge and hiding place. Help us to grow in that and fill us with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, that we truly will walk worthy of You, that we will be fully pleasing to You, being fruitful in every good work, that we will increase in the knowledge of You, being strengthened with all might according to your glorious power that we may truly have patience and longsuffering filled with joy, because our hearts recognize and have received the wonderful inheritance you have provided and bestowed on us.
