Discovering what love is one day at a time
Ever notice that the outside of your scars can take a beating…the skin is tough and hard. Yet if you have a wound, it is raw and you definitely notice if it is being touched. I had something happen the other day, and I was shocked by my reaction. I discovered there is yet still a small part of an old wound…I thought it was scarred over.
Isn’t it interesting that just because we have decided we are done with something doesn’t mean we really are….Know what I am saying? When something has been healed, you can poke at it prod at it, and come at it from all directions, and it will not cause pain…but if there is any wound remaining, BAM! Any action towards you will prompt a protective reaction rather than a healthy healed response. The best thing about discovering a wound is that the healing can begin. You get to address the thing that surfaced… kind of like a gunshot wound... the bullet lodges itself in a place not harmful to the patient…but years later it surfaces, causing inflammation and swelling… Sometimes wounds get healed in one full swoop, sometimes it’s a long process. Either way is good. Our job is just to respond in surrender and trust to the Lord’s hand when He reaches out and puts His finger on that tender and raw place.
