Discovering what love is one day at a time
Crazy, if they could have honored one another, they would all have been able to share the water supply. Yet for some reason, they still had a dispute that they were unable to lay aside. (Survival…of the fittest, every man for himself.) This translates into: I am going to do what I need to do, and if I have to throw you under the bus so that I can get what I need I will.
What if… they would have believed that the water hole was enough for all of them? What if they were not in a desert, and were truly in a lush beautiful garden? What if…they believed that they had abundant supply, and continuous unlimited access? What if they believed that they could have access no matter whether they were the good guy or the bad guy and nobody was keeping score? When people end up in survival mode, they fight for position, they fight for supply… Life becomes competition. Choices and actions subsequently are based off of fear. And thus it becomes every man for himself…rather than considering the needs of others first. The reality of all of this is that we all have been in survival mode one time or another, and some still are… When you live in a state of survival mode, you believe that everyone else is operating out of that place as well. Perhaps your circumstances are the things that make you think that you have to fight to survive? Jesus Christ never has given us anything that He has not given us the grace to follow through with. He has an endless water supply. So, if someone has poisoned your water supply, or you have been poisoning it yourself, it is time to forgive. It is time to repent. Its time to change the way that you operate. Let His water supply rain down on you like Niagara Falls. From above. We do not have to gather our supply from a lake, and certainly not from a swamp. We can choose to let Him be set above all of our circumstances, all of our hurts, all of our ideas, all of our opinions. Then we will have the willingness in our hearts to let Him show us who He really is, so that we will trust Him with all of those things.
