Discovering what love is one day at a time
Patterns, habits, thoughts/attitudes/opinions are the fuel to the decisions we make. Some of those can be healthy…and some not so much. Until we face the reality or the real truth about the choices that we make, we can continue to hurt ourselves and others around us. We are all imperfect, and we all fall short of the glory of God. We make mistakes, we hurt others, and we reject the voice of the leading of the Holy Spirit. This is simply put…sin. We all sin, every single one of us does; every day. (More than you ever would think.) We miss the mark… and when we do our flesh wants to hide from the face of God. Why do you think Adam and Eve hid from Him in the garden, and fashioned coverings for their parts? There is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give an account.
Behold, the LORD’s Hand is not shortened that it cannot save, nor His ear heavy that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you. We can have this place of foolish pride in our hearts that casts blame on everyone and everything else…and yet until we tell it like it is…confess the real truth about what is going on in our own hearts, and admit that we have missed the mark; freedom is still as far away as it was when we missed the mark in the first place. BUT GOD…. This is the message that we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. 1 John 1:5-10 He has given us His Word. He has given us His Holy Spirit. His Word is living and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. God’s Word is Truth. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. Truth is the way things really are…it is God’s perspective. His perspective is completely different from the thoughts/opinions/attitudes of the masses, and from our own. We must look at our lives and our circumstances from God’s perspective if we really want to experience true freedom and true peace; not just in our hearts and minds, but in our soul and spirit as well. The secret things belong to the Lord our God but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words… In Deuteronomy there is a verse that says: For this commandment which I command you today is not too mysterious for you, nor is it far off. It is not in heaven, that you should say, ’Who will ascend into heaven for us and bring it to us that we may hear it and do it?’ Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ’Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us that we may hear it and do it?’ But the word is very near you that you may do it…the commandment is to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments… We have a responsibility to know His Word, to know His perspective, to respond to the guidance, conviction and leading of His Spirit. To partner with the work that He has started in us. Behold the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope on His mercy, to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Psalm 33:18 Let’s just face it. God tells it like it is. We must also, for our own sake, and for the sake of others. God be merciful to us and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us, Selah. That Your way may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. Psalm 67:1-2
