Discovering what love is one day at a time
WHAT NOT TO WEAR…We all choose the clothing we wear; sometimes however, we think something is fitting us well, because of our perspective. We need friends who have a loving perspective to tell us when it just doesn’t suit us. We need TRUTH and we need to get rid of the stuff that isn’t fitting. And we need to GUARD from it coming back into our closet. Especially when it comes to our spiritual clothing.
For Example: WE have put on the clothing of offense when…. Ordinary conversation is choked off… We are unable to give someone the benefit of the doubt… Tolerance is choked off…. We deny human imperfection, and have the heightened expectation of making a simple loving person to be exact and precise, and mechanical while trying to express sincerity. The worst is always assumed… Obvious intentions are ignored and digging for the ugly something is the next item on our list. Common everyday words are allowed to be misconstrued and implicated as the “offender of rights” Dissatisfaction is a snack for life: especially if we choose to wear it as a badge of honor, or a banner over our household. It reads” indignant and rightfully so.” Offense is a place to hide, it is a mask that we can wear, or a smoke screen to hide what is going on in our hearts. So easily offended, and never seeing our own need, rather placing blame on someone, anyone rather than accepting responsibility and acknowledging that we have chosen to “wear” this “clothing” Offense is a snare, a trap, and a lie that is easily often believed. Its intent is to impede us from God’s blessing in our lives. But God! He has provided us with the clothing we need, to overcome this trap. His righteousness, His holiness and His love. He says we are to clothe ourselves in His righteousness. We are to put on love. His love covers a multitude of sins. His love sets us free. His love suffers long, and is kind, it does not parade itself, it is not puffed up, and it does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, and thinks no evil. It doesn’t rejoice in the willful reckless patterns of sin, but rejoices in the truth. His love bears all things, hopes all things believes all things and endures all things. It never fails. His love is a place for us to rest. It is a place for us to be extravagantly loved and cared for. It is a place we should run to, and not hide from. His love is an amazing love that changes us from the inside out. It is a place of great peace and security no matter the circumstances that surround us. How important it is for us to choose the clothing that fully covers us, and does not make another stumble, or impede their walk in any way. What clothing are you choosing to wear today? Is it honor or dishonor? Love or Hate? What or who is offending you? Why?
