Discovering what love is one day at a time
I recently reposted an article by another author that was truly thought provoking... on my facebook page. here is the link to the article: http://www.jasonlsanders.com/2016/06/02/christian-singer-comes-out-of-the-closet/ I have been thinking about all of the craziness that is happening in our world today, and I think it is truly important for us to look at our own hearts in response to our nations upset. Are our hearts offended? Have we taken a self-righteous approach and walled our hearts off…with blame…disgust… Is this the heart of God?
Is our voice or lack of voice one that is part of the problem? Our voice can be broadcasting division, hate and offense louder than all others, or it can be one of sacrificial love, and forgiveness. We get to choose. Is the love in our hearts cold? Have we allowed multiplied wickedness and lawlessness to live breathe and grow in our very own hearts? Are we willing to allow division of any sort keep us from the love and compassion that Christ has bestowed on us? Can we purposely seek unity within diversity? Can we love and disagree with and still have honor and value for one another? Sometimes we are just not going to understand one another’s perspective, but we can have a heart filled with compassion, and respond with such…and honestly, the only way I am capable to do that is when I actually respond in obedience to Christ’s direction for me in this. “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land” I believe that God wants us to have sacrificial love for one another like He has for us. He is asking us to identify ourselves with the terribleness, the sin of our own making, and the sins of others, and repent for all of the wrongdoing. Yes, other’s sin. He asks us to repent for other’s sin, and pray/ intercede, after all, He did the same for us, and yet He died on the cross…for all of our sin. I know this is a place that Christ has called me to, and I am humbled by my lack of fervor to stay seated there. And I do repent for that and purpose today that this is something that will be a part of my daily life. Because I am a new creation in Christ…and it is my new normal, according to His Word. Because I am crucified with Christ, it is not I that live, but Christ that lives within me, and the life I now live I live by faith in the Son of God who died and gave His life for me. I want to live as Christ…I want to be a voice that promotes Christ’s love, compassion and forgiveness. I can only do that through complete surrender…Will you?
